A drug bust in the Harrington Raceway simulcast area Wednesday led to the arrest of 12 people being charged with buying or selling presciption drugs, including current and former horsemen. According to reports, "Operation Horse Pill" targeted the alleged drug seller, who was arrested and charged with 22 felony counts of delivery of a narcotic Schedule II controlled substance and other counts that included possession and intent to deliver narcotics and controlled substances.
Among the horsemen arrested on various charges were Kenneth Mitchell, the co-owner and trainer of Scape Ghost, who recently won two legs of the Junior Trendsetter Series at the Meadowlands before finishing second as the odds-on choice in the final, and trainer Terry McClements, whose stable currently includes the $117,000-winning Bettor Watch Him.
