The Red Mile celebrated Memorial Day by hosting 14 races on behalf of the Woodford County Fair, with trainer Scotty Harris sending out three winners from four starters. Go Ginny Go (1:56.3) and Real Model (1:54.1) swiped both $3,000 divisions of the Kentucky Fair Stakes for 3-year-old filly pacers while Real Excited (1:55.1) took a division of the 3-year-old colt pace. Harris, who co-owns all three winners with Nathan Sea, said all of his starters will follow the same path: start out racing at the Kentucky fairs, then come back to The Red Mile for late-closers, Kentucky Sire Stakes and the Simpson Stakes. Two 2-year-old pacers looked extra-sharp in their respective debuts. Chevie Classic Rod, an Art's Conquest gelding owned by Clyde Stevens, won his Kentucky Fair Stakes division in 1:57, setting a season's mark with trainer Ronnie Guhy in the bike. Guhy said Chevie Classic Rod was born with a hernia, which stunted his growth, so he said it is a pleasant surprise to see him perform so well so early. "He really grew up the last couple of months. We'll race him through the county fairs, then turn him out at the end of the season so he can grow a little more," Guhy said. Zoom Past You, a big, leggy filly by Allamerican Ingot trained by Donnie Conrad, paced to a season's mark 1:58.3 win. Conrad co-owns the filly with David Brunck. Carson Conrad, the 2-year-old son of driver Charlie Conrad, also owns one-third of the promising youngster. "He's one of the most natural-going colts we've had in a long time," Charlie Conrad said. "(Assistant trainer) Josh Whitelow has been raving about him all winter. "He's going to Hoosier Park next for the Hanover, but he's also eligible to the Kentucky fairs," he added. Royally-bred filly Sun Sentinel won a division of the 3-year-old filly trot in 1:58.3. She is by Like A Prayer out of Breeders Crown champion Winky's Goal. Trainer Bobby Brower drove Sun Sentinel under the wire first for owner Dean Miller. (Red Mile)
