Harvey Rice dies at 89

Harvey Rice, longtime (50+ years) horseman, died Tuesday from injuries sustained last week while breaking a yearling. He was 89 years young, and will be missed by all at the Champaign County Fairgrounds and
the surrounding area.

An avid pool shooter and Moorman Feeds salesman, Mr. Rice was also well known by many outside the harness industry. He leaves his wife, Ona, three sons and their families, and a great many friends in the community.

A visitation service is planned at Owens Funeral Home in Champaign, Wednesday 6-8 p.m. The funeral service and burial will take place in Albion, Ill.; arrangements not available at this time.
