Harvey table up for bid

Return Home
June 20, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Harness Racing Hall of Fame trainer-driver Harry Harvey has crafted a walnut table that is being offered for open phone bid by the Harness Racing Museum. Bids are being accepted now by phone or in person at the museum until 5 p.m. on June 30.

The table, suitable for an end table, is made of rare black walnut and constructed in mortise and tenon fashion, with tapered legs and a beveled edge. There is a drawer and a shelf underneath the drawer. Harvey has been making fine furniture for nearly 50 years, almost as long as he has been training horses. He works primarily in black walnut and cherry in Shaker and Mission reproduction styles and has studied with master craftsmen William Laberge and David White. The table is signed on the underside by Harvey.

Proceeds will benefit the museum and its programs. The table can be seen at the museum until the end of the day on June 30. To make a bid, call them at (845) 294-6330 or e-mail Director Gail Cunard at hrmdir@frontiernet.net. (HRC)
