The 3-year-old filly Has An Attitude, a daughter of No Pan Intended and the 1992 Breeders Crown champion So Fresh, extended her winning streak to five for owner Brittany Farms and trainer Erv Miller as she cruised to an easy 2 3/4-length victory in 1:53.2 in her $20,000 split of the Ontario Sired Spring Series, second leg, for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Monday night at Mohawk racetrack. Has An Attitude, the betting favorite, played a waiting game while longshot Southwind Morning set early fractions of :28.0 and :56.2, with the Count Ten Stable’s Justa Minx in the pocket spot behind. Driver Roger Mayotte then sent Justa Minx to the front, a position she held until being hunted down in the stretch, first by opening round winner Changing Gears, and then by Has An Attitude, who came three-wide with Mark MacDonald sitting chilly as she accelerated past her rivals to take a new lifetime mark. Changing Gears hung on for second, while Im Just Special grabbed the show spot and Justa Minx crossed the wire fourth. "She’s real handy," commented MacDonald post-race. "She can do whatever she wants. She’s aggressive and she feels like she’s got a lot of gate speed if I wanted to leave with her, but tonight they were going along up front so I was able to come from behind. That’s a big asset when you can go either way with them." Has An Attitude will undoubtedly be leaving at even shorter odds in the $60,000 final, scheduled for Monday, May 12 at Mohawk. In the second of the two OSSS divisions, 19-1 shot, Allamerican Tiger, surprised with a 1:55.1 triumph for linesman Mario Baillargeon and trainer Scott McEneny. The Grinfromeartoear filly, who was scratched sick from the Spring Series opener last week, made a four-wide late rush to overtake a flagging Serious Camotion (Mike Saftic) and slip under the wire a length to the good. Astreos Delight rushed up for second and Torrid Pace was third, with favourite Serious Camotion picking up a cheque for fourth. "She had a great trip, second or third over,"said Baillargeon. "She’s a nice filly. She qualified decent six or seven weeks ago, and then (McEneny) had problems with her … she’s been sick a couple of times. We raced her off the pace tonight, and she had a pretty good half in front of her in :56. A couple of those fillies got tired and she picked up the pieces. She’s a better filly than the program shows." Allamerican Tiger paid $40.90 for the win and more than doubled her lifetime earnings for owners Michelle McEneny and Joe Tinelli of Edmonton, Alberta.
