December 08, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Bud Hatfield of Columbus, Ohio picked up his first-ever Billings championship driving his own Like Nothing Else in the featured $25,000 Gold Cup final Saturday night at the Meadowlands.  The duo held off the late charge of Ego Sum and Anthony Verruso by a neck in 2:13.1 for the 1 1/8 mile distance.

Hatfield, a retired automobile dealer, had never won a Gold Cup final before although he has four points championships under his belt, winning that title in 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

The other Billings champions were David Drew, driving Bengali, in the $25,000 Silver Cup, and Paul Minore with Miss Foxy Caller in the $8,000 Bronze Cup.
