Patrick Tortorello's Bud Ross was a repeat winner in the featured $14,000 Junior Open Trot Wednesday at Harrington Raceway in 1:57. The 7-year-old First Action gelding had seen very limited action on a half-mile track until his last two tries on Delaware's half-mile oval, both wins.
Driven by Tim Tetrick, "Bud" settled well off the early pace set by Armbro Timothy. He launched his rally up the backside, slowing making grounds on the leaders, before surging on the final turn and holding off Vicki Gram to the wire for the win. Armbro Timothy was third.
Driver Tony Morgan won four races on the card, while Tetrick registered a hat trick.
Racing continues Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. post time. There's still time to sign up for Harrington's "How to Read the Program" seminar. It will take place Sunday April 29, at 4:30 p.m. on the first floor of the grandstand. Interested parties should call (302) 398-5933 to register. (Harrington)
