Hawaiianphotograph shrugged off a demanding first quarter and scored a decisive victory in the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot on Wednesday at The Meadows. Saddled with post position eight, Hawaiianphotograph found herself battling for the early lead with I'm Justa Lady. While the first panel in :27.3 left I'm Justa Lady without late trot, Hawaiianphotograph grew stronger on the lead, zipping through a back half in :57 for Dave Palone. She prevailed in 1:54.3, 2 3/4 lengths better than AJ's Baby, with Whybabywhy a distant third. The mile was a career best for the daughter of S J's Photo-Hawaiian Rose and the fastest trotted this year by a 4-year-old mare on a five-eighths-mile track. It was two ticks off the track record established by Hidden Viggorish in 2007. Bill Zendt trains Hawaiianphotograph for Shanamphilaniklou. Aaron Merriman drove five winners and Palone four on the 16-race card. (The Meadows)
