The Chicago Tribune has reported that on Friday the Illinois Gaming Board picked Des Plaines, Rosemont and Waukegan as the three finalists for the state's only available casino license, knocking Hawthorne Race Course out of the running. This will be the 10th casino license in the state.
The Tribune story said Gaming Board chairman Aaron Jaffe said one of his main interests in choosing the finalists was capturing most money for state to help fund education. The Rosemont bid topped the seven offers on the table at $435 million.
