Despite the best efforts of the track crew at Maywood Park, Thursday night's 12-race program was forced to be cancelled after race six due to unsafe track conditions. With daylong rains pelting the area the track was scraped early in the program in hopes of keeping the racing surface safe for both horses and drivers. Unfortunately the rains continued throughout the evening turning the half-mile oval into a sea of mud. After meeting with track management the drivers, trainers and management agreed that it was in the best interest of all involved to cancel the remaining six races.
Weather forecasts call for the rain to subside early Friday and the 14-race program, which gets underway at 7:10 p.m. (central), is expected to go as scheduled. (Maywood)
