September 17, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

When Jimmy Marohn reined the winner of the Godfather Pace, the last of Monticello Raceway’s eight Heritage Drivers Series races in late August, the stage was then set for the winners of each of the eight preliminary legs to return and battle in the series final- “The All-America Pace”- which the Mighty M will present on Wednesday, October 7.

Prior to the Godfather Pace, which was for drivers of Italian heritage, the Mighty M presented a heritage drivers-preliminary leg in each of the previous seven months and the winners of each of the series races  earned a berth in the finale.

Those who earned the right to compete in the All-America Pace on the strength of their previous heritage series preliminary victories include: Jim King Solomon (Dr Martin Luther King, Jr Pace- for African American drivers); Doreen Dailey (Lady Godiva Pace- for women drivers)); Jimmy Marohn Jr. (St Paddy Pace-for Irish heritage drivers);PJ Lutman III (Passover Pace-for Jewish heritage drivers); Stephane Bouchard (Maple Leaf Pace-for Canadian heritage drivers); Billy “Zeke “ Parker, Jr. (Mayflower Mile Pace-for British heritage drivers); Jordan Stratton (Munich Mile-for German heritage drivers) and Jimmy Marohn (Godfather Pace).

Should anyone of the above winning drivers not be available to compete in the All-America Pace then the runner-up in their event will get the nod.Jordan Stratton reined the fastest winner in the series when he got West Coast Baby home in 1:59:2.

In early October, Eric Warner Monticello Raceways Director of Racing, will get a field of eight together for The All-America Pace and each driver will be assigned a horse via a lottery drawing.(Monticello)
