Clever Account won his third straight race Wednesday night at Maywood Park, capturing the $10,000 The Big Dog Series final in a lifetime-best 1:53.2.

Driven by Dave Magee, Clever Account took advantage of his rail post position on the Chicago half-miler, leading gate to wire through fractions of :27.3, :56.1 and 1:24.3 before charging home in :28.4 to seal the 6 1/4-length victory over Hockey Angel (Andy Miller).

"This horse really zipped around this track tonight," said Magee afterward. "He showed winning here in a very fast time last year, so I knew he could handle the turns, and he just really did it very effortlessly, too. The horse basically was on idle throughout the mile."
