He Wants It All beaten

He Wants It All, a winner of four of five starts, suffered a defeat at Balmoral Park Saturday night as the 3-5 favorite. Odds On Big Tom sat on his back and posted the win in 1:51 while He Wants It All faded to fourth.

He Wants It All, who won the Isle Of Capri at Pompano Park on Feb. 25, had not raced---or qualified-- in 28 days prior to his Saturday night start at Balmoral. He won by a neck in 1:53.1 in his prevous start on March 25 at Pompano Park.

After posing for photos with the retiring millionaire Color Me Best, driver Dave Magee climbed in the sulky behind He Wants It All and fired the 6-year-old stallion away from the gate. Tim Tetrick was also leaving strongly from post two with Odds On Big Tom and kept He Wants It All on the rim until almost the quarter-mile mark. He Wants It All took the lead at that juncture and loafed to the half in :56.1 (a :29 second panel), but then couldn't hold off his foes in the stretch drive.

Odds On Big Tom, a 4-year-old gelding by Western Ideal, won for the fifth time this season fro trainer Robin Schadt. Yukon Cornelius got up for second while General Challenge, who challenged first-over, took third.
