He Wants It All wins

Making his first start since winning the Isle of Capri Pace nearly a month ago, He Wants It All made a triumphal return to the races on Saturday at Pompano Park, winning the $9,000 Preferred Handicap Pace by a neck over his stablemate Star Role in 1:53.1.

Driver Tom Harmer sent He Wants It All right to the lead after they had left from post position seven, and Star Role (Wally Hennessey), raced right on his stablemate's back. He Wants It All cut easy quarter-mile fractions of :28.1 and :58, and then picked up the pace at the three-quarter pole, reached in 1:25.4.

With no one else challenging on the outside, it was Hennessey and Star Role who came after He Wants It All in the stretch, and those two battled to the finish. VP Power (Kevin Wallis) finished third.

It was the second-straight win and fourth victory in five starts this year for He Wants It All. The prior start by the 6-year-old stallion by The Big Dog was on Feb. 25, in the $159,000 Isle of Capri Casinos Pacing Series final.

"I wanted an easy race for his first start back and that's what he got," Harmer said. "I just hand drove him tonight and he was perfect. Our plans now are to ship him north to Chicago next week and get another start by mid-April. I hope then to get an invitation for him to race in the $200,000 Dan Patch at Hoosier Park at the end of April."

Michael Polansky owns both He Wants It All and Star Role. (Pompano Park)
