Historic Track schedule set

Goshen Historic Track, where it all started and where it is today, is gearing up for it 169th season of exciting harness racing and 2006 marks the 96th year of Grand Circuit Racing at “the Cradle of the Trotter”.

On tap this season will be three matinee programs in June and five days of Grand Circuit racing from June 30 through July 4.

Action at Historic Track commences on Saturday, June 3 with a the first of three matinee programs and matinee racing will continue on consecutive Saturdays of June 10 and June 17.

Post times on June 3 and June 17 will be at 1 p.m. However, on June 10 the racing program will get underway at 11 a.m.

The annual Amy Bull Crist Luncheon will be held under the tent at Historic Track on Thursday, June 29 and as usual will serve as a kick-off to the Grand Circuit racing programs that begin on the following afternoon.

Then on June 30 and continuing for five consecutive days through July 4, the Grand Circuit racing programs will take center stage.

On Friday, June 30 the 2-year-old Landmark Stakes will be featured and the following afternoon, Saturday, July 1, the 3-year-old Landmark Stakes and the C.K.G. Billings Amateur Trotting Series share the spotlight. Also on tap will be the John Farrell Ladies Invitational and the Catskill Amateur Drivers Pace.

Sunday, July 2 is Hall of Fame Day with the annual Hall of Fame Trot, driven by members of Harness Racings Living Hall of Fame, is the feature of the afternoon racing card though the supporting races in the 3-year-old trotting division of the New York Sire Stakes will make for a enjoyable afternoon for all harness fans.

The day will end with the annual Hall of Fame Banquet on the lawn of the Trotting Horse Museum, which is adjacent to Historic Track.

On Monday, July 3 the 3-year-old pacers in the New York Sire Stakes will strut their stuff and the final program of the meeting, Tuesday, July 4, will feature the 2- and 3-year-old trotters and pacers in the New York Sire Stakes County Fair Division. Also that day Historic Track will honor all senior citizens.

Admission to any racing program is $3.00 and the purchase of box seats is still available by calling Linda Myers at 845-294-5333.
