Driver Tim Tetrick played his best hand with Holdingallthecards in Saturday night's $67,400 Clyde Hirt Series final for 4-year-old pacers at the Meadowlands and he was rewarded with a 1:51.1 victory.
Leaving from post one with the 4-5 favorite, Tetrick settled in third as Corey Callahan sent Ethan Hanover first to the front and Simon Allard dropped into the two hole with longshot Man He Can Skoot. After a :26.1 quarter Tetrick moved Holdingallthecards to the lead, reaching the half in :55.2 and three-quarters in 1:24.
Although the field closed in a bit down the stretch, Tetrick kept Holdingallthecards game and the son of Cam's Card Shark held off a late bid of Man He Can Skoot. Mr. Dennis and One Through Ten both closed fast in the stretch and finished in a dead heat for third.
Scott Di Domenico trains Holdingallthecards for owners William McIntyre. The win completed a series sweep and kept his record perfect in four starts in 2013, bringing his career earnings to more than $118,000.
