Holiday Road was the headliner at Friday morning's qualifiers at Mohawk Racetrack. The Greg Peck pupil was victorious in his qualifying effort for driver Paul MacDonell. The 3-year-old son of Yankee Glide stopped the timer in 1:57.1 and will remain stabled in Canada in preparation for the $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic with eliminations on Sept. 11.
Peck spoke to WEG's media department following Holiday Road's qualifier and remains very optimistic about his stable star despite his costly break in the $1.5 million Hambletonian.
"He was very good (today). I only got to train him once since the Hambletonian because he popped a splint Hambletonian day. He picked a bad day to do it , that's for sure," Peck commented to Greg Gangle of WEG's media department.
"He's a great big strong horse with a great shoulder and a has a high wither and that's where a horse gets a lot of it's power and that's what he has going for him," Peck commented.
Peck also noted that Holiday Road was not kept eligible to the Simcoe Stakes on Sept. 4.
Holiday Road has career earnings of $426,200 for Peck along with Jerry Silva, TLP Stables,Four Friends Racing Stable and Deo Volente Farms. (WEG)
