Cavalli Pazzi Stables' Casino Bus ($17.20, Tim Tetrick) set a new track record for 4-year-old pacing mares Tuesday with a 1:52.1 triumph in the $16,500 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway. The record had already been broken once on the card when Three Point Acres' Ultimate Bet ($33.40, Corey Callahan) won the $14,700 Junior Open event, but was eventually outdone by Casino Bus' giant effort. Casino Bus, a daughter of Village Jove, earned her fourth win of the meet by settling sixth in the six-horse field early behind a highly contested duel up front between Hopefull N and Badlands Iron Lady, who set fractions of :27.3, :55.1 and 1:24. Casino Bus saved ground much of the way and after Poppy Lustre N seized control of the lead at the three-quarters, "Bus" followed three wide and surged by in the stretch. Poppy Lustre held second while Finale's Angel was third.
The Ed Nickle-trained Casino Bus has banked nearly $80,000 in 2007. (Harrington)
