Hop Sing sets PPK mark

February 19, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Hop Sing set a Pompano Park track record for older gelding pacers Saturday night as the 5-year-old son of The Panderosa won the $50,000 second leg of the Isle of Capri Series with a 1:50.2 effort. He Wants It All finished a head back second with Whodunit third.

Driven by Wally Hennessey, Hop Sing won for the third straight time. He now has earnings of more than $118,000 this year for owner Richard Annunziata.

"What a great race that was," said winning driver Wally Hennessey. "We were head and head coming down the stretch and He Wants It All started to move ahead and my horse got mad and he came back and dug in to win. It's going to be a hellava final next week. I just hope my horse draws a good inside post."
