Horseman Clarence Walters, 58, was killed Wednesday morning when he was kicked by a horse while working in the Mike Palone Stable at a private farm near The Meadows racetrack.
Walters reportedly entered the stall of a horse and was kicked in the chest by the animal. The Observer-Reporter newspaper reported that Walters was taken to Washington Hospital, about a 10-minute drive from the farm, and was pronounced dead at approximately 9 am, about 90 minutes after being kicked.
The farm where the Palone Stable is based was built by one-time Standardbred owner Bob Murphy, who owned the 1991 Beacon Course winner Dontellmenomore.
