Horsemen Irwin Lubar and Rocco Vinci were injured Wednesday morning in a pre-qualifying mishap involving three horses at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Lubar, of Tamarac, Fla., who just celebrated his 64th birthday yesterday, and Vinci of Chillicothe, Ohio, along with Vinci employee James Marine, were on the main track at approximately 9:40 when the accident occurred.
Lubar and Vinci both sustained injuries and were transported to nearby Geisinger Medical Center in Plains Township. The 64-year-old Lubar got the worst of it with multiple injuries. Vinci reportedly had a shoulder injury while Marine apparently went unscathed.
All three horses escaped serious injuries in the accident. It was unclear as to what triggered the mishap.(Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs)
