The battle to bring expanded gaming and thus more revenue to Illinois horse racing tracks was the subject of an NBC-5 Chicago report by Carol Marin. In the interview, Dave McCaffrey, president of the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association, tells Marin that the Illinois horse racing industry needs to be competitive with other states to survive, and Marin notes that jobs are in jeopardy.
Marin spent time in McCaffrey's Stable at Maywood Park and also talked to a blacksmith and presented the rising cost of feed. McCaffrey also gave Marin a ride behind a horse at Maywood Park.
