February 03, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Hot N Sporty won the $32,500 Delaware Special by a nose while I Ain't No Fool took his third straight $26,000 Open on Monday at Dover Downs. Tim Tetrick had five winners, Tony Morgan piloted four and Jim Morand had three.

Hot N Sporty found room coming down the middle of the stretch while Art Director came from the outside with only a nose separating the two at the wire in 1:52 in the $32,500 Del. Special. Tony Morgan drove the winner for Gary Evans and Folk Stables Inc. The Sportsmaster-She's Redhot gelding raised his career earnings to $428,235 with his 26th lifetime win. Tim Tetrick-driven Art Director was second. Steeler and David Miller were third.

Tetrick notched the fourth of his five wins by guiding I Ain't No Fool to his third consecutive wire-to-wire win in the $26,000 Open Handicap Pace. A :27.4 final panel put away any thoughts of runners-up Haverford Hanover, handled by Ron Pierce, and Benns Shotgun with Tony Morgan, second and third, respectively. Tom Lazzaro and Harness The Power own the winner, a The Panderosa-Fool That I Am gelding who is trained by Kevin Lare. The win was I Ain't No Fool's third in four starts this year -- good for $40,300 in 2009 earnings and $304,547 lifetime.

Larry Baron's He Da Cool Man won his second in three local starts, taking the $22,000 Winners Over Pace in 1:52.1. David Miller drove the winner, a The Panderosa-First Days Light 4-year-old, to a career best clocking, securing victory with a :27.3 last quarter. George At Bigs, with Ron Pierce, was next. Menno Boy and Jim Morand were third.

Arty Foster's Art's Son took command early and was never headed in a 1:52 victory in an $18,000 male pace. The win was the second in a row for the Artsplace-Lady Fairway gelding. Days Desire (Roger Plante) closed to finish second in front of Prince Of Luck (Tetrick). (Dover)
