HOY dead heat at Nfld

A dead heat has occured at Northfield Park and it wasn't on the racetrack as the track's Wall of Fame trustees voting for 2006 Horse of the Year honors resulted in a tie between Equalize and Key Western. It is the second time the trustees deadlocked in voting for Northfield's Horse of the Year.a

Mike Foote's Equalize won 14 times over the "flying turns" at Northfield in 2006, while Daryl Sherman's Key Western won 12 races on his way to $78,505 in local earnings.

Equalize is an 8-year-old Western Hanover gelding trained by Jodi Schillaci. He has career earnings of $201,797 for his Cuyahoga Falls owner. Key Western is also a Western Hanover gelding, but is a year younger than his co-honoree. Kent Sherman, the son of the Elmore, Ohio, owner, trains the career winner of $190,926.
