Hypnotist act at Pompano

Hypnotize, the current leader of the female pacing class at Pompano Park, looks for her fifth victory of the season when starting from post six in Friday’s featured $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace that has attracted a field of eight.

A 5-year-old daughter of Artiscape, out of the Falcon Seelster mare Sleep All Day, Hypnotize has visited the winner’s circle four times in 2007, all while completing at the Mares Open Handicap level.

Hypnotize put together consecutive wins in mid-January before returning to the winner’s circle with a powerful victory on Feb. 9 where she covered the mile in 1:53.4. Last week, the Jim Mattison trainee scored in a career-best 1:52.3 when prevailing by a neck over Maresey Doats, who also returns for the Friday feature.

Installed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite, Hypnotize will be driven by Joe Pavia Jr. for the ownership of Louis Diffenback, Lisa Diffenback, William Mack Jr. and Mattison.

Scheduled to challenge Hypnotize from post eight is Flo Found George, a winner in seven of 14 starts last year.

Flo Found George, a 4-year-old daughter of Dream Away, banked $148,476 in her sophomore season, highlighted by victories in the $113,423 Simcoe Stakes for 3-year-old fillies and the $67,500 Fan Hanover Stakes consolation, both at Mohawk Racetrack.

Trained by Anthony Faulkner for the Booff Stable and Steve Goldberg, Flo Found George began her season with a pair of last-place efforts at the Meadowlands before shipping to Pompano where she crossed the wire sixth in her South Florida debut.

Flo Found George has since returned to win a qualifying heat in 1:57.2 and will be guided from the outside post by Pompano Park’s leading driver Bruce Ranger.

Making her second start off a short layoff in the Friday feature is Wilma Hall, who won the Mares Open Handicap on Jan. 5 in 1:53.1 and is the Pompano Park track record holder for older mare pacers with a 1:51.3 clocking on Nov. 3, 2006.

Trained by Jim McDonald for the Knockout Stable, the 6-year-old daughter of Blissfull Hall was scratched sick from the Jan. 26 Mares Open Handicap and has since returned to win a qualifier in 1:58 before a fifth-place effort at this level on Feb. 23.
