I Can Only Imagine ($10.80) was able to stalk pacesetter and race favorite Gotta Go Moe and catch him in the final strides to post a neck victory Saturday at the Isle Pompano Park in the $16,000 Open Handicap Pace.

Shot to the early lead in the third race feature from post five for driver Bruce Ranger, I Can Only Imagine led the field to a brisk opening quarter mile in :26.4 with Gotta Go Moe and driver Joe Pavia Jr. already on the move on the outside and taking the lead away.

Gotta Go Moe then took command past the half-mile marker in :56.1 and the three-quarters in 1:23.3 but it was in the stretch that Ranger made his move with I Can Only Imagine and collared the leader before the wire to win in 1:51.1. Gotta Go Moe was second with Sugar’s Pride (Wally Hennessey) third.

Trained by Tom Harmer for owner Michael Polansky of Loudonville, N.Y., it was the first win this year for I Can Only Imagine, a 7-year-old stallion by Cole Muffler.

Ranger, Harmer and Polansky teamed up again in the sixth race $12,000 Open Pace with He Wants It All ($4.60), who also had a perfect two-hole trip to win by a nose over pacesetter Armbro Dynamic (Hennessey) in 1:51.2. The victory put He Wants It All’s career earnings at $981,260. (Pompano Park)
