If I Can Dream drew the rail and controlled the $560,000 Confederation Cup final, winning by 2 ˝ in 1:52.1, with his stablemate River Shark taking second and Bay Of Sharks third.
Trained by Tracy Brainard, If I Can Dream drew post one in the open draw after finishing second to Bay Of Sharks in the first elimination. The Ben Wallace-trained Bay Of Sharks won that race in 1:52.1. River Shark took the second elim in 1:52.3, holding off the sustained first-over charge of the Blair Burgess-trained Passmaster Hanover.
In the final heat driver Luc Ouellette sent River Shark to the front from post five, but yielded to Jim Morrill Jr. and If I Can Dream at the quarter, reached in :26.4. After clicking off splits of :56 and 1:24, If I Can Dream pulled away to win his sixth race of the year in 11 starts. Fast Pay tried a three-wide move, but was never a threat.
If I Can Dream, the 4-5 betting favorite, had finished fourth in the Adios in his previous outing. Bulletproof Enterprises owns If I Can Deam, who is a full brother to Western Terror.
