I Luv The Nitelife delivered a three-quarter length victory in the $610,000 Shes A Great Lady Stakes final, Saturday night at Mohawk, part of the Metro Pace undercard.
The 2-year-old pacing filly, driven by Jack Moiseyev, returned to victory lane after winning her elimination in a 1:50.1 world-record performance.
The Chris Ryder-trained I Luv The Nitelife got away fourth as Victoria Semalu (Yannick Gingras) powered to the front, putting up the opening panel in a flashy :25.4. As the field of 10 entered the backstretch, L Dees Lioness (Scott Zeron) advanced first-up from third and I Luv The Nitelife tracked her.
L Dees Lioness's lead was short lived as I Luv The Nitelife cleared at the midway point in :54.3. The even-money favorite held command past the three-quarters in 1:23.1 and utilized a :27.4 final frame en route to the victory in 1:51. L Dees Lioness and Cult Status stayed for second and third, respectively. "(Fillies like this) they don't come around too often, but you get one that wins in (1):50 and a piece last week, a 2-year-old filly, it's kind of special,” said Moiseyev from the winner's circle. "Last week I had a little something left (in the tank), but tonight I had a good filly on my back (L Dees Lioness). "It was anybody's race from head of the stretch home, but I thought she might have got me, but she (I Luv The Nitelife) is just a real nice filly and just keeps digging,” he added. "She is just a big strong filly and when she sees one coming she gives you a little extra when you need it.” The daughter of Rocknroll Hanover-Lisjune has a record of 3-1-1 from six starts in her debut season, including a triumph in a division of the Eternal Camnation Stakes at the Campbellville oval. With the triumph, the pacing miss pushed her earnings to $402,474 for owners Richard and Joanne Young of Coconut Creek, Fla. (WEG)
