Imperio breaks maiden

Three-year-old prospect Imperio broke his maiden Tuesday night at Rosecroft with a 1:57.1 score with John Wagner aboard. The colt by The Panderosa came first-up at the three-quarters and won by 2 ˝ lengths.

He is owned by William Donovan, Stephen Michaels and Jim Winske and trained by Manley Brown Jr.

Imperio is out of January Spur 1:52 ($256,067). He is a half-brother to 2005 Progress Pace and Messenger winner Gryffindor p,3, 1:50F ($759,189).
