Yannick Gingras directed Splendid Kisser to an impressive 1:50.1 victory in the single division of the Sportsnet New York Series Thursday night at the Meadowlands. The 4-year-old son of Bettor’s Delight took home the winner’s share of the $19,000 purse by 3 ¾ lengths over Major Suit, with Lucky Bettor third.
Although Gingras got away fourth with Splendid Kisser, he moved his charge to the lead in the 12-horse field down the backstretch, drawing clear for his fifth win in seven starts this year with a blistering :26.1 final quarter. Jeff Stafford trains the winner for breeder-owner White Birch Farm. Splendid Kisser increased his seasonal earnings to just shy of $50,000 with his career-best effort.
