Ind. bill moves to House

Indiana HB 1835, which includes provisions for slot machines at Indiana's racetracks, passed out of the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 20, by a vote of 14-8 and is now before the full Indiana House of Representatives.

It is currently on the floor for consideration and discussion. According to the House Calendar for Thursday, Feb. 22, HB 1835 was on the agenda for a second reading. Once up for a third reading, a vote can occur. It is expected to be put to a vote on either Monday or Tuesday of next week (Feb. 26 or 27), if not earlier. There is a possibility it could even occur by today.

Based on the Legislative Calendar for the 2007 General Assembly, Tuesday, Feb. 27 is the last day for the third reading of bills in the Indiana House of Representatives. Bills must be approved and moved on to the Indiana Senate by Wednesday, Feb. 28, if they are to continue during this session. (Hoosier Hoofprints)
