Kay Roberts, former assistant director of the Indiana Standardbred Association and active in many areas of Hoosier harness racing for many years, died Monday after a long battle with breast cancer. Kay also helped run the Indiana State Fair's harness racing program in the early 1990s and served as assistant executive director of the Indiana Horse Racing Commission in its early years.
In addition, Kay often worked behind the scenes. She assisted developer Paul Estridge with his plans to build Indiana Downs.
Visitation will be held at Condos Funeral Home in Wilkinson, Ind., Thursday, May 3, from 4-8 pm, with funeral services scheduled for Friday, May 4, at 10 am.
