Indictments in NJ

Trainer Richard Chansky was indicted on six charges of tax evasion and one of possession of a controlled substance by a Grand Jury in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Trenton on Dec. 20. Kevin Goodell, who served as Chansky's assistant trainer, was also indicted that day in connection with the case, on charges of receiving stolen property.



The charges against Chansky include possession of anabolic steroids as well as several regarding failure to file corporate and state tax returns. Goodell is charged with receiving stolen property in the second degree, specified in the indictment as, "knowingly receiving or bringing into this State movable property of another, to wit Epogen and Neupogen, having an aproximate value of $80,480.20...."



Chansky was arrested by New Jersey State Police in April of 2001 in New Egypt, N.J., for illegal possession of a variety of substances. According to Superior Court spokesperson John Hagerty, both men will now receive a summons requiring a Superior Court appearance in Ocean County, N.J. (where New Egypt is located). They will be arraigned and bail set at that time.
