Indulge Me leads NYSS Rye Pace winners at Yonkers

Friday was Girls Night Out, with Yonkers Raceway hosting the $214,224 New York Sire Stakes Rye Pace for 3-year-olds fillies.

Four divisions went postward, with formful femmes displayed in just about every event.

Indulge Me, the best this class has to offer, fooled positively no one in the first ($53,056) NYSS group. With Mike Lachance acting as chaperone, Indulge Me marched right to the lead from post position No. 4.

Sent off at 15-cents-on-the-dollar, the pair waltzed through fractions of :28.3, 59 and 1:28, taking a length-and-a-half lead into the lane. Indulge Me defeated pocket-sitting Up Front Kellie Jo (Jordan Stratton) by two, never-in-doubt lengths in 1:55.2. Allstar Salute (Billy Dobson) was third.

The victress, a homebred daughter of Bettor's Delight co-owned by Robert & Lauren Tucker and trained by Ed Lohmeyer, she paid $2.30 for her fifth win--all against Empire foes--in eight seasonal starts. The exacta paid $4.50, with the triple returning $19.

Friday night's second ($53,056) Rye event saw 1-2 choice All Spirit (Jim Marohn Jr.) go up and over the soft fractions of Eagle Way (Jason Bartlett).

The latter, last season's statebred frosh champ, left around her quintet of inside rivals and rated seemingly tepid enough sub-divisions of 28.4 and 59 seconds. She picked up the pace to the tune of a :28.4 third quarter as All Spirit moved from third. Eagle Way had a length-and-a-quarter lead turning for home, but All Spirit was all business.

She went right by, widening to a length-and-a-half at the line in 1:54.4. Marie's Z Tam (Pat Lachance) was third. For All Spirit, a Bettor's Delight miss trained by Tim Lanpher for owner Larry Lanpher, she returned $3.30 for her fifth win in 11 '09 tires. The exacta paid $6, with the triple returning $25.60.

The evening's other two NYSS events, worth $54,056 each, were won by...

--Six of Hearts (by Art Major); co-owners Purple Haze Stables & Coad Zurich/trainer Jessica Okusko/driver Cat Manzi; 1:56.3/$8.40;

--Witch is Bettor (by Bettor's Delight); co-owners (trainer) Robert Horowitz & Jerrold Spitzberg/driver Stephane Bouchard; 1:55.1/$3.60.

Friday night's pair of $50,000 Open Handicaps were won by Stonebridge Diablo (Trot) and K G Delight (Filly and Mare Pace).

"Diablo" ($7.60) took it the house for Bouchard in a season's-best 1:56.4, while favored K G Delight (Bartlett, $4.70) won a stretch duel with Twin B Tiara (Jim Pantaleano) in 1:54.1. (Yonkers)
