David Schneider’s Stylish Solution scored her fifth straight win at Colonial Downs with a stunning 5 1/4-length victory in a $15,000 Fillies and Mares Winners Over Handicap on Tuesday, closing night at the New Kent oval.

Stylish Solution’s streak included a 1:50.2 mile on Oct. 23 that smashed the track and world record for 4-year-old mare pacers on a greater than one mile track.

Driver Del S. Miller let Stylish Solution rate comfortably behind a sizzling early pace, racing about 10 lengths behind Drivin’ Miss Rudee’s :26 quarter and :53.4 half. Stylish Solution and Miller were content with sixth around the turn but had moved to within five lengths of Drivin’s Rudee as she turned for home after three-quarters in 1:22.1.

Miller tipped Stylish Solution out at the top of the lane and the 4-year-old Artiscape mare responded with an instantaneous burst of speed to blow by the field and cruise home in the final eighth.

You’re Welcome raced in second the entire mile and Lye Creek Betty closed well for third.

Absent driver David Ingraham wrapped up meet-leading honors Tuesday when Chris Page, his nearest pursuer, ran out of time despite a hot finish to the 32-day meet. Ingraham finished with 38 wins and $200,390 in earnings from 200 starts.

Ingraham’s son, fellow driver Dustin, accepted the award on his father’s behalf and promptly won his first two races of the meet.

Page was second with 35 wins, including six on the final two days of the meet. Dean Collins was third with 25 wins.

Trainer Manley Brown Jr. was also honored as leading trainer. Brown finished with 33 wins from 167 starts in New Kent. Collins was second with 24 winners and Don Harmon rounded out the top three with 14 wins. (Colonial Downs)
