Starting from the rail paid off for the winners--Sedona Canyon and Impel Hanover--in the twin $18,000 feature trots at Dover Downs on Wednesday.
Both feature race winners scored victory in a similar fashion coming from behind with strong stretch surges. In the first $18,000 event, Corey Callahan driving Sedona Canyon, a young Yankee Glide-Casual Breeze gelding, overtook leader Early Shirley (Jack Parker Jr.) halfway down the lane to notch his third win of the meet, a 1:56.3 score for owners Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis. Joey The Jet JT (Ross Wolfenden) took third.
In the other half of the midweek top trot, Impel Hanover stormed down the stretch for Jim King to overtake I Know Magic (Eric Goodell) in deep stretch for a 1:56.2 triumph. Carol and trainer Jim Atkinson own the Andover Hall-Imposing 5 year old. Though earning a check in all but one of his seven previous race, Impel Hanover had won only once before this meet in the first week of November.
What A View came on in the stretch for a 1:54.2 victory in the $20,000 claiming allowance. Jim Morand piloted the Cam's Card Shark-I Scene it All gelding for Niel Gargiulo, Don Eccleston and trainer Wayne Givens. Bachelorboy (Wolfenden) led until midstretch while Imposter A (Tim Curtin) and Who's Next (Roger Plante) could not be separated by the photo camera and finished in a dead heat for show. (Dover Downs)
