February 24, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The second day of the U.S. Trotting Association's annual meeting of its board of directors Sunday was highlighted by an Integrity Panel which consisted of Standardbred Investigative Services Frank Fabian, Racing Medication and Testing Consortium's Dan Fick and Hallie Roach, Association of Racing Commissioners International Ed Martin, Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown's Tom Charters and Indiana Horse Racing Commission executive director Joe Gorajic.

The panelists all gave an overview of their group's involvement in tackling integrity issues in the sport, including the Hambletonian Society/s out-of-competition testing rules integrated into its stakes conditions.

A luncheon was held and USTA president Phil Langley honored the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund's Judy Davis-Wilson, Harness Racing Communication's Ellen Harvey, and Buffalo Raceway's Sharon Herrmann with President's Awards. Also recognized was Yonkers Raceway's Bob Galterio for 20 years of service as a USTA director.

Committee meetings were also once again held with Registration-Owners/Breeders, Regulatory, Finance and Rules included.

The annual meeting will conclude on Monday morning with presentations by American Horse Council president Jay Hickey and The Ohio State University DVM Dr. Yvonne Elce. Each committee chairman will make a report to the entire USTA board.
