Not only did Invitro set a new Georgian Downs track record for older pacing mares Tuesday night in the $113,000(C) Masters Pacing Series final, she also established a new Canadian record for her division with her 1:50.4 effort.
Invitro led at every quarter station for driver Paul MacDonell, crossing the wire 2 1/4 lengths ahead of runner-up To Helen Back, who had made a first-over bid against the winner. Taylorlane Action rallied late to take third-place honors.
Invitro's effort easily shattered the previous local standard. To Helen Back had actually tied the previous Georgian Downs divisional record in last week's second round of the Master Series, scoring in 1:52 to equal SentbytheAngels' mark established in 2005. Invitro, trained and owned by Gordon Irwin, lowered HT Bo Majee's 1:51.2 clocking at Windsor Raceway four years ago to set the new all-time Canadian record.
