Lightly raced 4-year-old Invocation upset the field at 18-1 in one of seven $12,500 Super Bowl Series divisions on Thursday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Driven by Jordan Stratton, Invocation caught the leader Aachoo in the final strides for a career best 1:57.4 clocking. He paid $18 to win the fourth race. Stratton’s father, David, purchased the son of Like A Prayer for a modest sum from Doug Ackerman six months ago. Invocation has now won five of 11 career starts.
“I followed up and sat behind Tetrick [Tim Tetrick and Aachoo] and then it was just a matter of passing them in the stretch,” Jordan Stratton said. “It feels good to win. It was my first start since closing night at Yonkers.
“This horse had a breathing problem and he had chips taken out of his knees,” Stratton noted. “My father’s done a great job with him. He’s still a little green. This is only his eleventh start.” (Meadowlands)
