Pancleefandarpels and The Isle of Pan barged there way into the Batavia Downs Gaming record books Wednesday Night but their stay was short lived thanks to Isabella Blue Chip, who became the new track record holder for 3-year-old pacing fillies by going wire to wire in 1:54.1, in winning her $54,585 New York Sire Stakes event. She paced the mile one-fifth of a second faster then both Pancleefandarpels and The Isle of Pan

A total over $163,000 in New York Sire Stakes purse money was up for grabs.

The previous track record set on Aug. 11, 1990 by Delinquent Account was 1:56.1.  Delinquent Account went on to be voted Older Mare of the Year in 1991 and she earned over $1 million in her career.

Howard Parker drove Isabella Blue Chip, a daughter of Bettor’s Delight to victory. In the winner's circle Parker said, “She just started pacing at the top of the stretch and it took a quarter mile to pull her up”.

George Teague Jr. trains the talented filly for owners by Only Money Inc., Mitchell and Teague Inc. This was Isabella Blue Chip’s first win of the season and she raised her lifetime earnings to over $685,000. Going off as the probative favorite she returned $3.30 to win. Isabella Blue Chip was named the 2 year-old filly champion last season.

Pancleefandarpels ($3.40) took the opening division of the New York Sire stakes winning by a comfortable margin in 1:54.2. for reinsman Morrill. The Noble Ability filly is owned in Pepper Pike, Ohio by the Peter Pan stables and is trained by Erv Miller.  Morrill said in the winner's circle, “I had so much horse I had to pull her. She just wanted to go.”

The drive may have won the second Sire Stakes division when reinsman Stephane Bouchard was able to get The Isle of Pan to the rail at the three-quarter pole. He then bided his time along the pylons until the stretch when he took the passing lane and drew off to win in 1:54.2. The Isle of Pan, a daughter of Noble Ability is owned by Stake Your Claim stable, David Dadetta and Fred Wallace and is trained by Linda Toscano.

In the winner's circle Bouchard stated that “going to the pylons was a bit risky but everything turned out alright.”

The Isle of Pan returned $12.80 to win.

Track superintendent Fran Mruczek and his crew deserve kudos for having the racetrack in tip-top shape. (Batavia Downs)
