Maltese Artist swept three-wide on the final turn and was able to nose out Santastic's Pan to win the opening round division of the Isle of Capri Pacing Series at Pompano Park Saturday night.

Driven by Richard Macomber, Jr., it was the first win this year for Maltese Artist, who covered the one-mile race in 1:51.1, the fastest mile at Pompano Park this year.

A 4-year-old stallion by Artiscape, Maltese Artist is trained by Michael Burke and is owned by George Leon, John Howard and James.

In the second Isle Pace division, The Globe was given a perfect trip by driver Wally Hennessey and they pulled away from the field in the stretch to win in 1:51.3.

A 5-year-old stallion by Life Sign, The Globe is a $626,000 career winner, trained by Ross Croghan and owned by the Let It Ride Stables and Jerry Silva.

The third Isle of Capri division saw Fox Valley Devious and driver Tony Morgan go right to the front and never look back, winning by a half length in 1:52.3 over Dee Magic Man (David Ingraham) and last year's Isle of Capri winner, Luckyisasluckydoes (Bruce Ranger)

It was the second straight win for Fox Valley Devious, a 6-year-old gelding by Sportsmaster, who is trained by Tom Harmer and owned by the Clara Stable, Michael Polansky and Neil Silverman.
