February 04, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Despite racing over a wet track labeled good due to torrid rain storms late in the day, both He Wants It All (1:52.2) and Wherethemoneywentn (1:53.2) were both victorious in capturing their respective $15,000 divisions of the Isle of Capri Pacing Series Preview Saturday at Pompano Park.

He Wants It All was driven by trainer Tom Harmer. The returning Isle of Capri Pace champion in 2005 sat a perfect pocket-trip to pacesetter Glors Boys (Bruce Ranger) and then collared him in the stretch to win by a head. Twofour Eight (Jeff Dauplaise) was third.

It was the first start this year for He Wants It All, a 6-year-old stallion by The Big Dog, owned by Michael Polansky of Loudonville, NY. It was also the fifth straight win for He Wants It All, who was one of the winningest horses in North America last year with 16 victories.

The $250,000 8th annual Isle of Capri Pacing Series gets underway next week with two weeks of $50,000 preliminary rounds followed by the $159,000 final on Saturday, February 25.

Wherethemoneywentn and driver Bruce Ranger scored over pacesetter Chewy Gross (Kevin Wallis).

It was the first start of the year and the fifth straight win for Wherethemoneywentn, a 7-year-old gelding by In The Pocket who is trained by Gary Lewis and owned by the Bell Valley Farms of Frankfort, IL.

The race saw Chewy Gross take the early lead, then give way to Whodunit after the opening quarter mile, but Wallis came right back to take command with Chewy Gross by the half mile pole. Monuke (Richard Silverman) came first over in the backstretch with Basil Hanover (David Ingraham) following the live cover and Wherethemoneywent n third over. Past the three-quarters was when Ranger sent Wherethemoneywent four-wide as he was able to motor by the field by the top of the stretch and then pull away at the finish.--Pompano press release
