Eleven AM, beaten a nose by Sandstorm N in their previous encounter, turned the tables on that rival when rallying down the stretch to a half-length victory in Saturday’s featured $15,500 Open I Pace at Pompano Park. Driven from the inside post by Bruce Ranger, Eleven AM settled in the pocket while Sandstorm N (Daryl Bier), riding a two-race winning streak, rocketed off the gate to claim the top spot in the Saturday feature, showing the way through fractions of :28, :56, and 1:25.1. As the pacers moved through the final turn, Ranger angled Eleven AM off the pylons to attack from the outside. The 5-year-old son of Falcon Seelster quickly gained ground on Sandstorm N, passing that rival in mid-stretch and prevailing in 1:52.2. Eleven AM returned $3.60, $2.10 for the victory while Sandstorm N paid $2.10 for second. There was no show wagering available on the race. Owned by the Berry Stables of Staten Island, N.Y., Eleven AM has now visited the winner’s circle in five of 11 starts this year. The Saturday victory pushed his seasonal bankroll over the $35,000 mark, with lifetime earnings of $361,083. (Pompano Park)
