The world's smallest living horse will be making a special appearance at Mohawk Saturday night as Thumbelina, a 5-year-old miniature horse listed at 17-1/2 inches tall and just 57 pounds will be at the track. According the Guiness Book of World Records, this makes her the planet's tiniest equine.

She will make her first ever public appearance in Canada this Saturday night as part of the Canadian Pacing Derby program.

Thumbelina will arrive in Ontario on Wednesday and will make a visit to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital on Thursday as well as appearing on the national morning television show Canada AM.

On Friday morning, she will guest on Hamilton's CH Morning Live and on Sunday, she will be at Woodbine to visit fans in the Family Fun area.

Thumbelina has become a major celebrity in the United States and has even been featured on the Jay Leno Show. Her Children's Tour, in which she travels in her very own RV, has raised more than $1 million for children's charities across North America.

Mohawk's Saturday program features the $702,000 Canadian Pacing Derby for the sport's top older pacers. Ironically, the probable favourite is last year's runner-up Mister Big.

A giant children's entertainment area will be set up at the track, complete with face painters, a petting zoo, pony rides, craft corner and x-box play stations. A special kids meal will also be offered for just $3.50 (tax included). (WEG)
