Two major Meadowlands summer stakes, the Stanley Dancer and Del Miller Memorial, will be raced one week earlier than previously posted. Eliminations for the Stanley Dancer and Del Miller will now be contested Friday, July 4. The finals for the two events, which are the last major prep races for the Hambletonian and Hambletonian Oaks, will be raced Friday, July 11.
In the past there have been no open 3-year-old trotting stakes scheduled at the Meadowlands the week before the Hambletonian and Oaks eliminations. The original schedule proposed for 2008 had the Dancer and Miller finals raced during that normally open week.
Nominations for the Stanley Dancer, Del Miller and the rest of the summer’s major stakes events close Friday, Feb. 15. Also closing are the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial, Blossom, Father Foley, Golden Girls, Graduate, William R. Haughton, Lady Liberty, Meadowlands Pace, Merrie Annabelle, Mistletoe Shalee, SportsNet NY, US Pacing Championship, Robert J. Suslow, Sweetheart, Titan Cup, Woodrow Wilson, Hiram Woodruff.
