I Won't Dance steps to OSS Gold victory

I Won't Dance converted from a perfect pocket trip to capture Monday's $130,000(C) Ontario Sire Stakes Gold final for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters at Mohawk Racetrack.

The gelded son of Angus Hall-Do Si Do Hanover got away second from post one for driver Trevor Ritchie behind the fast-leaving Zero Boundaries and driver Paul MacDonell. The top pair raced through easy first half splits of :28 and :58.1 before Senator Hall came out from third to attack the leader in the third quarter. With a quick move, Senator Hall came within inches of clearing Zero Boundaries but was unable to do so as the field surged past the three-quarters in 1:27.

Zero Boundaries regained the lead turning for home and had I Won't Dance caught in behind him and looking for racing room. Eventually Senator Hall began to tire and back away, leaving Ritchie enough of a seam to come to the outside with an eighth of a mile remaining.

Once clear, I Won't Dance easily trotted past the winded leader and won by a measured three-quarters of a length in 1:55.3. Zero Boundaries held on gamely for the place spot with Hitithard picking up third.

The clocking was a new lifetime best for the Per Henriksen trainee who is owned by the M Biasuzzi Stable Inc. The winner's share of the purse vaulted him over $93,000 lifetime. (WEG)
