Jack P. Adkins, who owned stakes winners Elke Frazer and Divine Victory, died Friday, March 14, in
Elke Frazer 3, Q1:56.1 ($255,598), who he campaigned in partnership with Harvey Gold, won the 1995 Goldsmith Maid Trot at Garden State Park. Trained by Ron Gurfein, Elke Frazer started from post 10 and raced parked the mile, but put her nose on the wire just before her stablemate Continentalvictory, who had broken stride at the start of the race.
Adkins also owned the stakes-winning Divine Victory 3, 1:55.2 ($323,185), racing that filly in partnership with Gold, Geoffrey Stein and David Reid. Divine Victory finished second to Lookout Victory in the 1994 Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Trot.
Other notable horses owned by Adkins were Armbro Barrister 5, 1:53.1f ($584,644) and Armbro Copenhagen 4, 1:55.2f ($304,311), two trainers trained by Buffalo-native Ray Schnittker.
