November 16, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Jake's Nordic rolled to a 1:57.1 victory in the $24,000 Open trot on a sometime fog-shrowed Wednesday at Dover Downs, while in the $21,500 sub-feature, Musclesextrodinair won for Tim Tetrick.

Michigan-bred Jake's Nordic took the lead as the field of seven marched in front of the grandstand and Tim Curtin controlled the fractions the rest of the way for his fifth win of the year. The 7-year-old gelding held off a persistent challenge from lat week's Open winner Breeze Hill Will and Tetrick from mid backstretch until the finish line. Kennywood, with Roger Plante, rushed home to take third money.

The victory lifted Jake's Nordic to $121,560 this season and $610,256 lifetime for owners Dan and Tom Courtemanche.

Three Point Acres' Musclesextrodinair got back in the win column with a strong effort in the $21,000 Jr. Open trot. Tetrick drove the Muscles Yankee 4 year old into the lead on the backstretch and opened up for his third win in his fifth start of the season. Rusty's Biggie, off at 83-1, finished second for Eddie Davis Jr. Racsan Jenny, with Vic Kirby, was third.

Tony Morgan drove M&M Harness Racing's Saint Johns Boy to a 1:55.4 victory in a $12,500 conditioned trot Ironstone Phota (Sean Bier) took second with Pretty Goal Vita (Jim King) third.

Dianne and Joel Halpern's CB Star made her first local start a winner in the $13,000 filly and mare pace. It was Tetrick's fourth win. The Ohio-bred 3 year old waited behind front-battling Western Miss (Ross Wolfenden) and Fantasy Winner (Herve Filion) until the top of the stretch before pulling out to overtake the leaders in a 1:54 mile. Fantasy Winner beat Western Miss for second. (From Dover)
