Jody Jamieson, the leading dash-winning driver in 2009, revealed Friday night on the Woodbine Racetrack in-house TV show that he is soon heading to Finland to compete over a 10-day span at tracks across that country. Jamieson said he will leave April 8 for what he termed a "whirlwind tour" overseas.
Jamieson, voted the 2009 O'Brien Award as Canada's leading driver after scoring a Canadian record for wins in a single season, won the 2001 World Driving Championship that was contested in Finland and Sweden.
"I got a message back in January from a guy from Fintoto in Finland, he wanted me to come over there and race some horses," Jamieson was quoted as saying on air Friday night. "Immediately I wanted to go but it had to be the right time of year. He managed to get me out there for 10 days." (with files from SC)
