Dance With Me Dee and Village Java, both driven by Jody Jamieson, captured their respective $35,000(C) divisions in Thursday’s second leg of the Damsel Pacing Series for 3 and 4 year olds at Woodbine Racetrack.

Dance With Me Dee was making her first start of the season in the opening contest and showed she was up to the task with a sharp off-the-pace win in 1:52. The clocking was a lifetime best for the daughter of Western Terror-Tundra Bird who turned back A Special Lady and Smashbox.

The mare, trained by Tony Osullivan, improved her career earnings to just over $138,000 for owner Joseph Martinelli of Staten Island, N.Y. She returned a generous $21.60 for the win.

In the second split, Village Java, who finished second last week to Cats Meow, turned the tables this time with a hard-fought 1:51.3 win by a nose over her new found rival. It was another three lengths back to Misty Moonstone who finished third.

Village Java returned a popular $2.50 as the overwhelming favorite while picking up her ninth win in just 13 career starts. The James Barton trainee boosted her bankroll to just over $125,000 for owners Elizabeth Thompson and Carol Ryan of Ontario and Anne Okeefe of Newfoundland.

The $80,000(C) Damsel Series final will go postward next Thursday night at Woodbine. (WEG)
